My Story
Right after my 18th birthday, I found out I was pregnant. In unfamiliar territory, I felt isolated. The people I thought I could turn to judged me and didn’t provide the support I needed. Besides knowing that my college plans had to be put aside, the only thing I was certain of was my determination to provide my daughter with a fulfilling life.
Growing up with an immigrant father, who found his American dream through frugality and hard work, finances are something I always worried about. Regardless of how much money I made, I would save. Nothing is certain, so I used only what I needed. With a family on the way, my financial worries were taken to another level, a need to support a family of my own. That’s why I went out and got my real estate license.
At first, people didn’t believe in me or my new career. Even people close to me would laugh at me for thinking I could be a successful agent. I noticed people pointing me out at parties and the ensuing giggles from their groups. But guess what, I thought, “they can laugh all they want because they’re just fueling me even more.”
Starting out as an agent, I built my base by knocking on doors, asking if they were thinking about selling their home. Yes, that was as awkward as it sounds, especially because I looked much younger than I was. People would ask if my parents knew I was out doing this. But I was committed to the hustle.
Soon after, I got married and had two more kids, followed by a divorce. This wasn’t the first time I felt on my own, but now, I had a bigger family to provide for. It wasn’t unusual for me to be heading out to an estate at 5 a.m. My kids could see how hard I was working. When I picked them up from school, they would ask, “How much money did you make today, mommy!?” And I’d have to explain, nothing yet.
When I made my first sale, I was so excited. That afternoon, when I picked the kids up, my son asked me how much I made that day. I held up my check and my son exclaimed, “8 million dollars!” Well, no, we weren’t even close, but I felt the momentum of my career picking up.
After building a team at another brokerage over the next few years, I felt ready for something more. Through hard work, advice from trusted mentors, and support from my clients, I rewired my brain from saving everything I earned to investing in something I believed in: myself. That’s when I formed K.A.R.E.
The transition into my new business worried me at first, but I realized that my clients were the ones that helped me become the person I am today. Every day I learned something new from my clients, and they were the reason I realized that I’m capable of anything. This realization became the “why” for K.A.R.E., to help others like me, adults faced with adversity, who had unrealized talents.
At K.A.R.E., we look to have more than just a business relationship but to build life-long friendships. Our passion is bettering the lives of others by motivating them to stay in a constant state of transformation and ignore the perceived notion of their limitations. We’re not just here for a real estate transaction, but to help anyone that needs inspiring words to recognize that we’re all capable of anything! The service K.A.R.E. provides comes from the genuine love we have for our clients. Whether it’s staging a home or giving a guided tour of the neighborhood, we can handle all your real estate needs. We’re happy to serve! No matter the obstacle, I’m here for my clients as their advisor to help them achieve their goals, whatever they are.
As difficult as it was for me in the beginning, I appreciate the experiences. I learned from them and toughened up. And as frightening as building my own company was, it allowed me to emphasize what I thought was most important—a passion to help others. Through the lessons I learned from growing a business, I now mentor high school students who want the tools they need to grow wealth through real estate. Having my own business and giving others the opportunity to have the same experience I have has brought me an immense amount of joy. I want to share that joy with you!
